Under its theme ‘The Nature of Relations’, this year’s Berlinale Talents explores the inner connections of the film world and discovers new ways of collaborative and interdisciplinary working among creative people. Come and deepen your festival experiences by hearing from renowned filmmakers and experts what holds their films together at the core, and how editing, acting, story and camera contribute to the bigger picture on the screen. For Berlin’s cinema-loving public and the 300 invited Talents hailing from 78 countries, the HAU Hebbel am Ufer becomes a six-day meeting point of cultures and a place to see films and explore the latest trends – in short, a central hub in our increasingly networked world.

Programme Highlights:

This year’s Berlinale Talents programme features a stellar cast of experts convening at the HAU Hebbel am Ufer, among them from the Berlinale Jury its president Meryl Streep, the French set photographer Brigitte Lacombe and the actors Lars Eidinger and Alba Rohrwacher. They are joined by Oscar-winning documentary director Alex Gibney, Dogme 95 co-founder Thomas Vinterberg, and Quebec cult director Denis Côté, who all have films in the Berlinale Competition Legendary director of photography Michael Ballhaus will be present. Other highlights include film professionals who have put their distinct mark on film and film discourse in the last year, such as Berlin-based artist and composer Carsten Nicolai ("The Revenant"), DOPs Jonathan Freeman and Fabian Wagner ("Game of Thrones") as well as Mexican hotshot directors and producers Gabriel Ripstein ("600 Miles") and Michel Franco ("Chronic"), the latter a member of the Best First Feature Award Jury.
