DDR neu erzählen!

Part of "Comrades, I Am Not Ashamed of My Communist Past"*

How does reunified Germany remember the GDR and the period just after reunification? At least in the official politics of memory, in a way that most people can’t find their place there. 30 years after the fall of the Wall it’s now time for a new perspective. The historian Karsten Krampitz has called for “rehabilitating the rehabilitation”. The other participants in the conversation are the author Luise Meier as well as Klaus Lederer, Berlin Senator for Culture and Europe and Carola S. Rudnick, cultural studies scholar and author of “Die andere Hälfte der Erinnerung. Die DDR in der deutschen Geschichtspolitik nach 1989” [“The Other Half of Memory: The GDR and the Politics of German History after 1989”].
