The outreach programme at HAU Hebbel am Ufer brings people together in mutual exchange. Artist talks and workshops provide access to art and culture regardless of social or cultural backgrounds. HAU Hebbel am Ufer offers a platform for open discussion, linking artistic positions with the city and its inhabitants and players. It can be seen as a kind of laboratory, combining global contexts and artistic forms of expression with questions of a changing urban society.
Especially in these socially and politically challenging times, HAU Hebbel am Ufer is convinced of the potential that comes from the intersection of art and society. The goal of the outreach programme is to create sites where we can get acquainted with one another, bringing together the knowledge and expertise from different disciplines and sectors and facilitating new and unfamiliar perspectives in both the audience and the artists. The outreach programme encompasses various formats and programmes.

Regular workshops for young people take place under the label Houseclub. As a rule they have a fixed duration of one month. The Houseclub is a place for dialogue and exchange, tailored to the interests of the students and young people, using the means of contemporary theatre and dance. Since 2011 there has been a close partnership between HAU Hebbel am Ufer and the Hector Peterson School in Kreuzberg, which is located in our immediate vicinity.

Artist Talks and Introductions

HAU regularly offers moderated audience discussions with artists following the performances. These are free and open to the public.

On request we will also organize special introductions for groups of specialized talks with artists or curators.

Workshops and projects of cultural education

In Workshops, discussions and interactive formats HAU Hebbel am Uferprovides space for exchanging ideas and questions that resonate both in thearts as well as in the ordinary lives of individuals or in the various areas ofsocial life. HAU sees itself as a site of learning, where schoolchildren, youngadults, students and persons from civil society can develop ideas in exchangewith artists. One important element of this is the question of how we want tolive together in a diversifying society.
