Ian Kaler

Ian Kaler studied transmedial art in Vienna and graduated from the pilot programme Contemporary Dance, Context, Choreography at the Inter-University Centre for Dance at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Since 2010 he has been developing a series of works in exchange with various other artists which are part of a long-term practice-series, which is accompanied by works in various (visual) media. Following the performance-series “Contingencies” he showed the video installation “On Orientations | Shifting the burden” – a collaboration with video artist Anne Quirynen – as part of the 8th Tanznacht Berlin at Galerie Patrick Ebensperger. Kaler's works have been shown at Tanzquartier Wien, at the Tanztagen Berlin, at Rencontres Choreographiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis, and at ImPulsTanz Wien. As a performer, Ian Kaler has collaborated with Isabelle Schad, Philipp Gehmacher and Laurent Chétouane. After “On Orientations / Untimely Encounters” Kaler now returns to HAU Hebbel am Ufer with “o.T. | (the emotionality of the jaw)”.
