Super Night Shot

Instant Video Journeys from the Streets of Berlin

"I want to feel important.
Just for a moment I want to be the one who is special.
I don’t want to blend into the crowd – I want to stand out.
I want to be noticed.
I want a red carpet, and an umbrella held over me to protect me from the rain.
I want people to wonder who I am.
I want to be driven away in an ambulance… no… a police car.
I want onlookers to think I’m a hard man, someone to be reckoned with, a rebel, a loner, a misguided youth – I want the crowd to hold me back as I struggle.
I want a slow motion struggle, sirens, blue flashing lights…"

Before YouTube, smartphones and selfie-sticks, Super Night Shot was premiered in Berlin in 2003. It was originally conceived as a show especially for the host theatre, but to the surprise of the group it has become Gob Squad’s most widely toured production with nearly 250 unique presentations on 6 continents. "Gob Squad" are still continuing their „War on Anonymity“ all over the world where each "Super Night Shot" is shot and screened only once in the host city.

"Tonight, we are going out onto the streets of Berlin in order to change the world. In our war on anonymity our choice of weapon is the video camera. The streets will be our film set, cigarette butts and litter our props and the passers-by will be the stars of this film.
We will do our best to complete our mission with a great moment of emotion, passion and liberation."
