The Future Clinic for Critical Care

Symposium "Take Care"

Part of “NO LIMITS – International Theatre Festival Berlin"

The future starts now: Welcome to ‘”Take Care” by The Future Clinic for Critical Care! A three-day symposium, within the context of No Limits 2017, offering lectures, performances, talks, and controversial perspectives concerning care. In this case we take care not only as a medical issue but as social, creative and political strategy to address the violent present. In cooperation with theorists, activists and artists with and without disabilities from fields of performance, the arts, political activism, social work, science, healthcare and sex work, “Take Care” – curated by the performers and performance makers Jeremy Wade and James Leadbitter – is searching for a critical understanding of care that might support a form of political imagination necessary to override the dividing myths of neoliberal individualism. Can the experience of mutual caring serve as model for emancipatory relationships, political behavior and a basis for future resistance? As early as 1988 Audre Lorde explained: “Self-care is a form of political warfare.” What if a critical version of care could generate forms of reciprocal dependence? What if these new approaches could break through the isolation and competition that capitalism begets? www.no-limits-festival.de
