Real Magic

Invited to 54. Theatertreffen Berlin

Part of "There is no time for this"

With “Real Magic“ Forced Entertainment were invited to this year’s Theatertreffen. In their compelling performance about optimism, individual agency and the desire for change, the performers take part in an impossible illusion and vary, contort and transform the same scene repeatedly. An inescapable universe of second chances, prophecies and variations that takes the audience on a hallucinatory journey.

"I guess the performance is about change – the need for change, the demand for change, and about how we survive in a system that contains us – the society we live in, the set of institutions that surround us. Perhaps in this show more than any other of ours you can feel Beckett looming – the absurdity of the situation, the limits of the language we have set for ourselves. On the other hand though, I feel like this piece comes as close to the heart of Forced Entertainment as we've ever come until now – as if we've really got down to the core of something." Tim Etchells

"Real Magic" sees regular Forced Entertainment performers Richard Lowdon and Claire Marshall, joined by Jerry Killick, who has worked with the group on numerous projects including "Bloody Mess" and "And On The Thousandth Night"…
