Gob Squad

Western Society

The starting point of Gob Squad’s performance is a home video found on the internet. The individual sequences of movement in the living room society are meticulously deciphered, dismantled and reassembled. This creates a panorama of Western society in the 21st century, half nightmare, half social utopia.

According to the New York Times “a haunting, funny vision of a society that shifts from total inclusivity to isolating exclusion.” After countless performances at home and abroad,"Western Society" returns to HAU where it all began.
